Happy Walk Series France: La Bauduère

This was one of the most beautiful walks I have ever had in France. The La Vendee trail is called La Bauduère. It's a 5.9km pedestrian and cycling circuit that will take you from the town centre  of Olonne Sur Mer crossing the fields all the way to tranquil marshes.
Place de Gourcy next to Olonne Sur Mer Tourism Office is the starting point of the trail where you can park your car. Follow the orange markers that may seem hard to find and at times will give you a misleading direction. Just enjoy the walk. It will give you a chance to explore the quiet suburban streets and up and coming new communities.

During dry season, one must go through this small tunnel under the rail tracks
We took the detour to cross the railway

"Good things are coming down the road.
Just keep on walking."
Robert Warren Painter Jr.

We spotted horses freely galloping through the fields, wild grapes and blackberries, families cycling the circuit from time to time, swans and ducks lazily paddling away on the marsh and quiet neighbourhoods with old architecture blending with the new.

  1. Gorgeous. A mix of green lushness and historical buildings. That is my kind of walk.
